Contra Costa County Line of Duty Death

It is with great sadness that Contra Costa County Professional Firefighters, Local 1230 reports the death of one of their recently retired members.  Brother James Capra passed away Monday morning, May 1, 2006 with complications from a job incurred exposure to a blood borne pathogen.

It is with great sadness that Contra Costa County Professional Firefighters, Local 1230 reports the death of one of their recently retired members.  Brother James Capra passed away Monday morning, May 1, 2006 with complications from a job incurred exposure to a blood borne pathogen.

Brother Capra's courage and commitment to his profession are already well-known to many of his IAFF brothers and sisters. Capra's struggle with job-related illness was dramatized in the IAFF's 2004 video "IAFF Guide to Infections Diseases".

CPF President Lou Paulson, himself one of Capra's Contra Costa brothers, said that Jim was "honored to have taken part" in a video designed to keep his brother and sister firefighters safe.

Funeral services for Brother Capra will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Saint Bonaventure's Church located at 5562 Clayton Road in Concord, California.  The burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetary located in Pleasant Hill, with a reception following.  More details regarding the reception will be available soon.
