Contra Costa County Line of Duty Death
It is with great sadness that Contra Costa County Professional
Firefighters, Local 1230 reports the death of one of their recently retired
members. Brother James Capra passed away Monday morning, May 1, 2006
with complications from a job incurred exposure to a blood borne pathogen.
Brother Capra's courage and commitment to his profession are already
well-known to many of his IAFF brothers and sisters. Capra's struggle with
job-related illness was dramatized in the IAFF's 2004 video "IAFF Guide to
Infections Diseases".
CPF President Lou Paulson, himself one of Capra's Contra Costa brothers,
said that Jim was "honored to have taken part" in a video designed to
keep his brother and sister firefighters safe.
